All four Watsonian squash courts are open for use

We are delighted to say that we finally have four good squash courts that are open for use by all members and guests.

This brings an end to a difficult few years for the club.

  • The entire Myreside pavilion was closed following a fire in early 2020. The squash area of the building was not damaged, but the courts were completely closed while repairs took place to other parts of the building.

  • Covid-19 stopped everyone from playing squash, from the spring of 2020 to autumn 2021.

  • After Covid, courts 1 and 2 (the Allan and Bogle courts) were out of action whilst redevelopment work took place. This took over 18 months to complete from June 2022 until late-October 2023, rather than the planned 4 months. Lots of photos of the development can be found here - 2022-2023 court redevelopment - turning the club around | Gallery | Watsonian Squash Rackets Club - SportyHQ

  • Courts 3 and 4 were out of action for six months because RAAC (reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete) was discovered in September 2023 in the ceilings of the courts. The work to repair the ceilings was finished in February 2024.
