The Junior-Prix Circuit is a series of 1-day Mini-Prix, Grand-Prix & Super-Prix squash tournament events staged from the Fall to the Spring seasons at a variety of Ottawa area clubs for girl & boy junior squash players who want a fun and semi-competitive environment to challenge themselves. The categories of Mini-Prix, Grand-Prix & Super-Prix are generally reflective of a player’s ability and age and players compete alongside other like-age and ability players in one of these categories during each Circuit tournament.
Players can use the Junior-Prix Circuit as a means to meet and play other juniors from the region plus gain tournament experience and skill improvement to enable them to be able to compete in other Provincial Silver & Gold level tournaments. The Junior-Prix Circuit consists of 9 tournaments, held once per month, to give players competitive continuity and interaction with juniors from other clubs in a season-long sequence that can help focus their practice and training efforts. Each tournament provides the players with 3, 4, or 5+ matches on the day against other players of varying abilities. For each tournament there is a $28 entry fee, which includes lunch on the day and prizes.
Players will also learn how to mark and referee squash matches, plus watch exhibition matches from featured guest players. In each tournament, players will earn Junior-Prix Circuit points based upon their final place in the draw at the completion of the tournament. These points are aggregated through the season following each tournament and posted online. Upon completion of the final Junior-Prix Circuit Tournament #9, each player's points will be totaled to determine the overall Mini-Prix, Grand-Prix & Super-Prix Circuit Champions!
A player's best final placing points from 6 of 9 tournaments will be totaled. This allows for a player to miss at least 3 tournaments without penalizing their chance of winning the overall title, or to discard their 3 lowest final placing scores. A player can participate in as many, or as few tournaments as they wish) will be totaled to determine the overall Mini-Prix, Grand-Prix & Super-Prix Circuit Champions! The Mini-Prix, Grand-Prix & Super-Prix Champions will also receive a bonus prize package donated by the Heather Wallace Foundation (Goodlife Club).
